چکیده

Article history: Received 5 November 2016 Received in revised form 24 February 2017 Accepted 7 September 2017 Available online xxxx This paper introduces a novel approach to the analysis of travel to work flows by combining separate geodemographic classifications of origins and destinations. A new classification of workplace areas is used in combination with an established official classification of residential areas. The approach is demonstrated using an empirical analysis of 26 million commuting flows in England andWales, measured between the smallest residential andworkplace areas in the 2011 census. The analysis demonstrates potential insights to be gained by this approach, revealing clear patterns in the structure of travel towork flows between geodemographic clusters. Our broad approach is not limited to use in specific countries and has potential application for use with data from non-census sources. © 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. A Least Squares Method for Origin-destination Estimation Incorporating Variability of Day-to-day Travel Demand

The estimation of an origin-destination (O-D) trip matrix from observed link flow is an essential part of the 4-step transport planning process. Conventional methods for estimating O-D trip matrices usually consider the fluctuation of link flows observed from loop counts as an error term that can be ignored, resulting in a significant loss of information. This work, instead, explicitly consider...

Capacitated Single Allocation P-Hub Covering Problem in Multi-modal Network Using Tabu Search

In this work, we discuss the multi-modal single allocation capacitated p-hub covering problem over fully interconnected hub networks. Therefore, we provide a formulation to this end. The purpose of our model is to find the location of hubs and the ...
